Monday Morning Box Office Autopsy

At this point, The Marvels will be lucky if it can beat Five Nights at Freddy’s current box office hold of $271 million. The Marvel’s fell 71% in it second weekend, for a grand total of $161 million. Meaning it’s beyond over.  Everybody is saying, ‘I don’t see how Disney can keep moving forward with disasters like this?’ Sadly, I do. We live in an age where ideology trumps profit and nowhere is this more true than The Bob Iger Company....

Joss Ackland RIP

One of the all-time great character actors in genre films left us today. From Henry VII to C.S. Lewis to Mustrum RidRidcully, from Bill and Ted to Lethal Weapon 2, Joss Ackland brought his Marianas Trench deep basso profundo voice to a vast array of films. Starting in 1949 until his retirement in 2014, Ackland racked up a stunning 206 credits as an actor. Born Sidney Edmond Jocelyn Ackland in Kensington, 1928. Arkhaven’s Jon Del Arroz BANNED on Kickstarter and Indiegogo

Arkhaven writer Jon Del Arroz's new parody comic has been banned on Kickstarter and (apparently) shadow-banned on Indiegogo. Why you may ask? Well, you may ask all you like but they sure as hell aren't going to tell you. During the lockdown, Kickstarter was so strapped for cash that it did the unthinkable and parted with people like Camilla Zhang. “Kickstarter actually reached out to the SJWs at DC Comics to help them gatekeep wrong think and boy did DC deliver in the...

Bob Iger’s White Knight

Meet G. Mason Morfit. The head of ValueAct Capital. ValueAct has not publically declared itself in opposition to Nelson Peltz Trian group and I'm not sure they ever will publically declare. But I'd honestly be shocked if he wasn't in Bob Iger's camp. ValueAct Capital has been frantically buying up Disney stock for a while now and is probably responsible for it not slipping any lower than it already has gone. Garrion Mason Morfit is the grandson of fifties...

ComiXology RIP

Do. Not. Try. For. 30-Days! Or any amount of time because Amazon has finally and officially pulled the plug on the Comixology app. ComiXology used to be something halfway decent back when the Big Two were halfway decent. It started life as an online community that would spot interesting upcoming releases and build pull lists for the brick-and-mortar comic book shops back when they existed. It also had some tools for the aforementioned brick-and-mortar comic book shops to help raise their...

The Dark Herald Does Not Recommend Loki

I have never had this much trouble reviewing anything.   This show has proven to be a unique struggle for me. It’s truthfully a bad show but it’s challenging for me to say exactly why because Loki has been so difficult for me to remember.   I’m getting what few thoughts I’m capable of having about this show down now before I run the risk of having to watch it a second time and I’m not doing that!  One of my problems with Loki...

Wile E Coyote Makes It Back to the Cliff

Coyote Vs. ACME has been released from the Iron Chamber of Tax Writeoffs. The producers have been cleared to shop the movie around. There were a bunch of questions about why this one had been killed. The audience testing was in the 90% approval territory. The plot was that Wile was suing Acme over a history of consistent and prolonged product failures that frequently injured him severely. There is now enough controversy going for it that...

Marvel Can’t Learn

"Who else could join? " Are you serious Marvel? They've handed themselves another sillyass problem here because the only others that can join are Shuri, America Chavez, and Iron Heart. This is pathetic, there are no other teen heroes available. The only mystery here is, are they going to be able to put a boy in this hen party? Marvel has provided these girls with no one they can correct, sneer at, or look down on. Also, not to state the...

The Death of Captain Marvel Sue

The movies were successful, and it was apparent fairly soon after the acquisition that unless we made some egregious unforced errors or were blindsided by some unforeseen outside event, Marvel was going to be worth far more than we’d anticipated.   -Robert Iger, The Ride of a Lifetime   Yeah Bob, so about that...   The Marvels did not beat out Five Nights at Freddy’s opening weekend.  They knew that going in but now Disney has to cope with the fact that they didn’t beat...
