Eternals is (or rather was) Officially Rotten

The Eternals was at 59% at Rotten Tomatoes (briefly). The SJWs absolutely freaked out over a deliberately and overtly Woke Marvel movie getting a certified Rotten rating at RT. Truthfully, it should be lower, a lot of fairly negative reviews for this movie are being rated Fresh. The positive review bombing started immediately, it is now slightly above Fresh. Just to let you know in advance. There will be no Dark Herald Recommends on Eternals. It's three hours...

Vampire Rules: Kolchak – The Night Stalker

A man in a cheap suit that would be the envy of every Millenial Hipster on the planet, walks into an office setting that they would envy even more. He is whistling a happy and carefree little tune while he pours himself a cup of coffee that no hipster would touch with a thousand-foot pole.  The man throws his cheap straw, trilby at a hat rack, and misses it completely while bossa nova music begins to play along with his...

Kay Kay Deathwatch?

As of this writing, it is now Noon, Oct 28th, and Kathleen Kennedy’s contract extension remains unsigned by Bob Chapek. I had recently predicted that I was quite certain she would have her contract renewed.  Now I’m not so sure. When Bob Chapek won his battle with her over Star Wars a deal was apparently struck.  She would stop fighting him over Star Wars but in exchange, he would fast-track an Indiana Jones movie that she would have complete autonomy over.  She would remain...

Eternals Has a Record Low Rotten Tomatoes Score

As of this writing, it's at 63% fresh and it has been trending downward. If it goes just four points lower it will be officially Rotten. Is Disney out of "promotional" money? Because even the career shill sites like freaking I09 are giving it bad reviews. They have to mobilize their troops soon or risk prelaunch embarrassment. The question this is raising for me is, has Fiege lost control of the promotional budget? I was taking it for granted that...

Things Were So Much Worse on the Set of Rust Then I Thought

There is nothing more dangerous than an unloaded gun. That was driven home to me when I was on weekend duty at battalion HQ and a report came in that one of the married Marines had committed suicide off base.  It turned out that he had shot himself in the brain because he had been playing with a pistol that he knew was “unloaded.”  As a joke, he had put it to his temple and pulled the trigger.  Death by Darwin ensued. Supernatural star...

Why We Don’t Need Hollywood Production Values

Hollywood isn't just a collection of far-left freaks and mutants. It's also a colony of inbred dinosaurs. I call them, The Club. They have been hiring each other's kids for four generations, and the original bloodlines have clearly and obviously run thin. Hiring an incompetent armorer just because she was someone's daughter is typical. They all have to look after each other's interests because they can't make it in the real world. They are illusionists who need to convince...

The Dark Herald Recommends: Dune

Frank Herbert’s Dune always makes the list of greatest science fiction books of all time.  And unlike Foundation and 2001, it actually has business being there.  It was a book that was genuinely for the thinking man. Dumb people have never been into Dune. Herbert’s inspiration was another book* The Sabres of Paradise (1960) by Lesley Blanch, it was a romanticized account of Imam Shamyl, “The Lion of Dagestan,” and his decades-long war against Tsarist expansionism. With Islamic holy war on his mind (decades...

Shadows of Dune

In that time I say if I need to cut my armsin order to make that picture, I will cut my arms!I was even ready to die doing that.”– Alejandro Jodorowsky REPOST: Originally posted in December of last year. I was hoping to get my Recommends on Dune up this weekend but I have learned to live with frequent disappointments. Frank Herbert’s seminal work is everything that the Foundation Trilogy isn’t. Big, sprawling, and epic. A genuine groundbreaker. It turned...

The Batman – The Second Thoughts

Not about the trailer I still think it looks like flash and thunder that signifies Bad Robot filmmaking. These are just a few notions that didn't fit the previous article. (1) Young Batman: The silly part of this whole thing is Young Batman. Going that route isn’t a bad idea at all. You can do a lot with it. You can get rid of the cape and have Young Batman parkouring his way across the rooftops of Gotham. Alfred...
