Eternals is (or rather was) Officially Rotten

The Eternals was at 59% at Rotten Tomatoes (briefly). The SJWs absolutely freaked out over a deliberately and overtly Woke Marvel movie getting a certified Rotten rating at RT. Truthfully, it should be lower, a lot of fairly negative reviews for this movie are being rated Fresh. The positive review bombing started immediately, it is now slightly above Fresh. Just to let you know in advance. There will be no Dark Herald Recommends on Eternals. It's three hours long...

Kay Kay Deathwatch?

As of this writing, it is now Noon, Oct 28th, and Kathleen Kennedy’s contract extension remains unsigned by Bob Chapek. I had recently predicted that I was quite certain she would have her contract renewed.  Now I’m not so sure. When Bob Chapek won his battle with her over Star Wars a deal was apparently struck.  She would stop fighting him over Star Wars but in exchange, he would fast-track an Indiana Jones movie that she would have complete autonomy over.  She would remain as...

Eternals Has a Record Low Rotten Tomatoes Score

As of this writing, it's at 63% fresh and it has been trending downward. If it goes just four points lower it will be officially Rotten. Is Disney out of "promotional" money? Because even the career shill sites like freaking I09 are giving it bad reviews. They have to mobilize their troops soon or risk prelaunch embarrassment. The question this is raising for me is, has Fiege lost control of the promotional budget? I was taking it for granted that this...

Why We Don’t Need Hollywood Production Values

Hollywood isn't just a collection of far-left freaks and mutants. It's also a colony of inbred dinosaurs. I call them, The Club. They have been hiring each other's kids for four generations, and the original bloodlines have clearly and obviously run thin. Hiring an incompetent armorer just because she was someone's daughter is typical. They all have to look after each other's interests because they can't make it in the real world. They are illusionists who need to convince everyone...

Shadows of Dune

In that time I say if I need to cut my armsin order to make that picture, I will cut my arms!I was even ready to die doing that.”– Alejandro Jodorowsky REPOST: Originally posted in December of last year. I was hoping to get my Recommends on Dune up this weekend but I have learned to live with frequent disappointments. Frank Herbert’s seminal work is everything that the Foundation Trilogy isn’t. Big, sprawling, and epic. A genuine groundbreaker. It turned writing...

The Batman – The Second Thoughts

Not about the trailer I still think it looks like flash and thunder that signifies Bad Robot filmmaking. These are just a few notions that didn't fit the previous article. (1) Young Batman: The silly part of this whole thing is Young Batman. Going that route isn’t a bad idea at all. You can do a lot with it. You can get rid of the cape and have Young Batman parkouring his way across the rooftops of Gotham. Alfred will...

The Batman – The Trailer

Here it is. Look at it. LOOK AT IT!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqqft2x_Aa4 That. Was. Awful. People whose opinions I normally respect are wetting themselves over this thing.   I’m clearly not seeing what they are seeing or else I’m seeing through what they’re seeing.  I admit I’m a little jaundiced about this movie because I know just how sleazy the backstory of how it came into being actually is.  You may remember that Ben Affleck was supposed to have a Batman project of his own, however, there was a mass execution of Warner...

Dune : First Impressions

If you are Dune fan this is the one you've been waiting for. It is a very grand spectacle. It's a throwback to films that are meant to be seen on a big screen. If you can see it on an IMAX screen, do so. I'll have a proper Dark Herald Recommends up soon(ish). If you have no interest in Dune, then don't crap up my comments going on and on about how you aren't going to see it. Your disinterest...

Indiana Jones V Delayed One Year

There has been a big reshuffle of release dates for Disney movies. All of them have been delayed at least a few months. Now some of this is understandable. The Covid Coof looks like it is finally going from pandemic to endemic status, so a brief delay while people get used to going back to the theaters makes sense. Also, there is the serious possibility of a strike by the production workers union. The gaffers,...
