Meet Harry Steele

Yes it's the exact same outfit. And yes, Charleton Heston obviously wore it betterWhat did you expect? BBUMPED: 6/30/23 Ever wondered to yourself, what the freaking hell kind of archaeologist is Indiana Jones?   If you haven't that's all right you probably have never met an archaeologist...or maybe you have met one and didn't realize it because they are not as a breed given to shooting up bars.  They are quiet retiring types who spend most of their time in the field delicately brushing...

RE:View Raiders of the Lost Ark

Raiders of the Lost Ark is the real title, George. In 1899, Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Junior came into a world where there were still big spots on a world map marked Unknown. He was as drawn to those places as instinctively as a Salmon is to the stream where it was spawned. Indiana Jones was born to be a man with one foot in two worlds.  On the one hand, he was a serious academic from a line of career college men.  This...

The Sons of Jason – The Explorer Heroes

Today, we’ll be examining a heroic type that has been quietly banned in America.  The Explorer hero. There was a huge boom in Frontiersman fiction in the America of the 1950s.  Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone, and Jim Bowie were suddenly back in the limelight as well as a host of fictional heroes from the Old West. When Walt Disney opened Disneyland it would have been unthinkable if one of the gates hadn’t been Frontierland (Tall tales and true from America’s legendary past). They were...

The New Lois and Superman

James Gunn has made his choice for his new Man of Steel and Intrepid, Award Winning Reporter. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. Mister Corenswet (I’m done spelling his last name) is kind of below the radar.  His parents were both lawyers. His primary school was the very private, K-12 “The Shipley” (student body pop, 341).  Followed by the Ivy League, UPenn.  Then a graduate degree at Julliard.   Not my first choice for a Midwest farm boy but then a Jerseyman from the Channel Islands wouldn’t have...

The Head Reimagineer Has Left Disney

Latondra "Ton" Newton, the Chief Diversity Officer at Disney and the head of Reimagine Tomorrow has left the company. From Bounding Into Comics: “To our extended DEI and HR team, I’m writing to share the news that Latondra Newton has decided to leave The Walt Disney Company to pursue other endeavors,” wrote Disney HR head Sonia Coleman, per a copy of the memo obtained by Variety. “Since joining the company in 2017, Latondra has led the company’s strategic diversity, equity and...

Sad But Expected News

The remains of genre actor Julian Sands have probably been found. Sands was well-known for his eclectic choice of roles during the eighties and nineties. While he was in such Merchant Ivory fair as a Room with a View, he was also in art house films like Boxing Helena and Naked Lunch. But where he really made his mark was in genre titles like Warlock, Vibes (very under rated), Arachnaphobia, Tale of Vampire and Phantom of the Opera (1998)....

The End Times Are Upon Twitch

I'm grateful that I'm too old to get into Twitch. While I can understand why hardcore gamers would want to watch top-tier players to hopefully pick up some techniques and tactics, the Twitch THOT was for a long time less explicable to me. I mean I can understand something like Chaturbate. That's comprehensible if less than laudable but at least I can see what they are getting out of that. It took me a while to figure out why guys were...

First Impressions: Secret Invasion

Usual disclaimer, this is not a review. I will not do a proper review of Secret Invasion until after the series wraps. I have had to institute this rule specifically because of Marvel TV shows. They usually start off acceptable or in the case of Moon Knight, even good. They stumble badly in the second episode and by the third, yep, it's a Marvel show. In this case, I don't need to worry about that as much...

Cheap Thrills: The Games Edition

AAA game releases in 2023 have reached new heights of incompetence.  There is $0.99 shovelware out there that is truthfully more technically adept than Red Fall or Gollum.  While Red Fall was at least hilariously incompetent (and therefore had some entertainment value), Gollum was depressingly so. Was either worth the price? I will grant that Hogwarts Legacy did indeed achieve the minimum acceptable level of performance, certainly better than the 11 frames per second that Red Fall achieved… On the minimum freaking settings.   And I’ve...
