Josh Brolin Offered the Role of Hal Jordan
James Gunn is going heavy into the Green Lanterns for some Gunnish reason of his own.
“Lanterns” will tackle two intergalactic cops (Hal Jordan and John Stewart) investigating a murder in the American heartland. Nathan Fillion is set to co-star in the series as Guy Gardner. No word yet on whether Gardner or Jordan will be portraying the Green Lantern as both characters have done so in the comics.
Damon Lindelof (‘Watchmen”) will be an executive producer on the show. Chris Mundy (“Ozark”) serves as the showrunner. Stephen Williams (“Chevalier”) is being eyed as a possible director, he worked with Lindelof on “Watchmen” and had directed episodes of “Lost,” “The Walking Dead”, “The Last of Us” and |Westworld.”
The Green Lanterns is slated to be an HBO show. Not you will not HBOmax. this thing going to be cable only at first.
Josh Brolin was offered the role of Hal Jordan this Friday. Interesting timing. This was of course a Holiday weekend. It does give his people time to assess things and give CAA time to to make calls and figure out how bad Gunn wants him.
Brolin has been a supporting actor most of his career but at this point a very well known one. He’s just coming off of Dune so while he won’t cost Robert Downey money by a long shot he wouldn’t be cheap either.
This could be an If-Come offer. Meaning no money is laid down but he will allocate some time (provided he accepts). While there are extensive plans being laid down for the DC universe, it could all end next year if Superman makes less than a billion. Warner does not have the money to throw hundreds of millions at a DC Universe that isn’t being watched. There was recently talk about Discovery being spun off, meaning Zaslav is threatening to bail out.
I wouldn’t be shocked if Brolin turns it down cold.
