Snap Shot: Bluey – The Sign

From the Babylon Bee:

Where did Calvin go? When did he leave the room?” asked father John Pearson, 32, after he and his wife Bridgette suddenly snapped out of a trance-like state, realizing that they’d been watching Bluey episodes alone for three hours.

“What?” his wife asked, slowly emerging from her stupor. “Oh. Yeah, I guess he did wander off a while ago. But… you know, we should probably just finish one more episode. I like to, uh, make sure there’s no CRT or anything in this stuff.”

Oh, yeah, for sure,” her husband replied, according to sources. “Gotta watch out for that CRT and woke stuff.”

The couple tried to recall what happened and only remembered sitting down to watch Bluey with their 4-year-old son, Calvin, for a few minutes this morning. At some point – they think it was during a particularly delightful episode where the Bluey gang goes camping – Calvin got bored and wandered off to play with his toys in a different room. But the parents were so wrapped up in the sweetness and drama of the episode, they didn’t even notice, and continued binge-watching episodes well into the afternoon.

Sure, you can laugh. You haven’t been through it.

“The Sign” is a half hour Bluey special. Bandit has a new job with higher pay but it’s in a different city. The Heeler family is going to have to move. This is a very rough and scarey thing for a little kid to go through. You are giving up everything you’ve ever known to be the new kid. It’s a scarey thing for an adult come to that, Chili clearly has her doubts about how good an idea this is. Bandit has told the kids it’s too give them a “better life.” Because more money equals “better life.”

This episode is mostly about changes. Bandit’s brother Rad is marrying Frisky who the kids love already. However, she has last minute thoughts about marriage and runs off. Chilli and that kids need to find her. That’s the premise.

Bluey is really not that conservative of a show. There have been a few episodes that have given me the Christian Ick. In one the kids were upset because last year, they didn’t get to hunt for Easter baskets because their parents had forgot about it. There are a few others like that. However, it is clearly not a product of DIE.

It is consistently the number one show on Disney +. And not by a little bit either. At this point the Bluey franchise is worth more than either Star Wars or Marvel. Bloomberg puts it’s value at $2 billion.

And now it’s going on hiatus. Basically the production company has said that after 152 episodes in three years they need a break.

This is terrifying news for Mickey the Great and Terrible. Bluey is the backbone of Disney +, there are parents that only keep it around for that. Without new episodes of Bluey they have no reason to keep subscribing. Burbank is quietly sweating bullets over this one because the potential damage to D+ could be immense. It’s barely above the free service Tubi (which is making a profit already). And worst case scenario puts Disney + below Pluto TV.

Frankly the parents would be better off buying the hard media. DVD box set for $20 at Walmart for seasons 1&2. If you must have the third season now it’s $10 for streaming license on Apple TV. Both are uncensored by Disney.
