Splash Mountain’s Last Day
That isn’t a line, it’s a flash mob.
Disney is being both craven and stupid at the same time.
Stunning, I know.
Yes, Splash Mountain needed a refurb. The animatronics were originally built for the old bicentennial show, America Sings and they are completely worn out.
But the decision to replace Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox with Tianna and company is a retarded one. Generation X is the last generation with any kind of memory of Song of the South and for most of us it’s a hazy recollection of wanting the cartoon part to start because we were bored to tears by the humans.
Millennials and Zoomers have no recollections about this movie at all. It’s the ride itself they have memories of. It has become an entity in it’s own right. It is it’s own story now.
And it’s a story that many people wanted to keep going. In surveys it is the second most popular ride at the Magic Kingdom. IF you factor in downtimes then it beats out Space Mountain for the number one slot.
The line (if you can call it that) appears to be stretching all the way to the castle.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is an idea perfectly in keeping with Chapek era parks. It’s going to be cheap, it won’t fit in at all with the rest of Frontierland’s theming and it’s creation is an act of cowardice.
